Cleaning the BBQ
If you have rented the BBQ, please keep the following in mind:
The BBQ may not be clean when you go to use it. Even if the BBQ was cleaned after the last time it was used, it may not be to your liking as it is quite possible that it has been waiting a month or two for your arrival. It all depends upon previous bookings and whether other guests were using it or not before you. Sitting outdoors, in the warm, moist sub-tropical environment of Florida, even a clean BBQ can accumulate a surprising amount of grime, or even bugs and little critters (I’ve often found tree frogs in them… they eat the bugs!) if not used for just a week.
You have two choices:
Clean the BBQ yourself prior to using it, or
Have it cleaned before your arrival by our staff at an extra charge of $100.
Having the BBQ cleaned for you Pre-Arrival:
Just select this option along with the BBQ rental when you order any optional extras added to your booking. We’ll take care of everything.
Cleaning the BBQ Yourself:
If you use a BBQ at home, then hopefully you know that the best time (and the time most likely for it to actually happen) to clean a BBQ is right before you use it, not after.
The truth is, when most people are done with a BBQ, there is a hungry crowd waiting for our suitably scorched and charred concoctions, who don’t want to wait on us while we take time to clean our beloved outdoor gill.
The absolute best way to clean a BBQ grill is to do so when it is really hot, using a good BBQ brush or scraper dipped repeatedly in a tray or bowl of water. The resulting steam powers everything away very quickly. Grime and grease go from the brush into the water with each dip.
We have all the tools needed for outdoor grilling at the villa. (If something’s missing, please let us know immediately!) This includes a cleaning brush/tool and a spare lighter as well. They are kept in a bag or tray in the kitchen pantry, so check for them there, and please clean and put them back when done so they are kept in good shape. Thanks!
BBQ’s work best when preheated, so use the time while the grill is warming up to give it a good cleaning.
Then give it one last clean after the last time you use it. Everyone will appreciate your efforts.
