Requesting an Early Arrival or a Late Check Out?

Unless you want to book the additional nights, we can not at this time offer you an early check-in or late check-out, however if we get very close to the dates and those nights have not been booked by other guests, and it does not interfere with our staff’s schedules, we will accommodate your request free of charge, depending upon a few particulars.

Be prepared to contact us by phone or email a few days before your departure to make the request, and be available to receive the answer! We may need to confirm with our cleaners first before we can let you know.

Here are the details:

Late Check-Outs:

If we have no guests coming in the same day you are departing, we can certainly accommodate a late check-out, as we will schedule the cleaning for the next day. If we have guests arriving the same day, we can’t allow for a late check out, as the cleaners need their full window to prepare the property for the next guests coming in. The cleaners may have two or even three homes to clean in a day, and their schedule is set a few days before, so times are often very tight.

The only way to assure yourself that you can stay as late as you want in the day is to book the next evening as well. I can understand why guests may not want to do that, however these are the limitations we must work within.

We would only be able to accommodate a late check out if the next night isn’t booked by another guest, and we will only know that about three nights before that date (if not booked already), as getting a very late booking is always a possibility.

The other thing that guests must be aware of with a late check-out is that the door access code will deactivate shortly after their scheduled check out time. Should you leave the property that day, you wouldn’t be able to get back in. A new code can be provided if necessary, but there is a $30 charge for that. If a late check-out is available and granted, a guest certainly can simply stay later at the property (without getting a new code), but must ensure that they can get back in until they are ready to finally leave. This means that at least one responsible member of the guest party must be in the villa at all times past the regular check-out time.

Unless a guest books the next additional night, there is simply no way to know if a late check-out of even just an hour or two can be granted until a few days before their scheduled departure, and that is something that we can figure out at that time. (Of course we will know sooner that a late check-out can’t happen if the following night does get booked at an earlier time.)

Early Arrival:

The same issues that affect Late Check-Outs are all at play in requesting and being granted an early arrival.

Do not show up early at the villa without an approved early arrival. You will NOT be able to gain access to the villa. Door codes are time and date specific, and will not let you in early.

Please do not request an early arrival of more than a few hours. Anything more than this requires blocking off the night before, which we can not do unless you want to add it to your reservation.

If we have another guest departing within a day or two of your arrival, we will know in advance if we can allow you early access to the property or not.

When to make your request:

If you do not want to add the additional night to your reservation to accommodate your early arrival or late departure, please contact us again about three days in advance of your arrival or departure for a final decision on whether or not a late check-out or early arrival can be arranged. We appreciate your business and will always do our best to accommodate such requests in the best manner possible.

Arriving Late?

A late arrival is no problem. Access to our property is through an electronic access code that is unique to each guest and only works during the time of their reservation. So you are free to come and go, and arrive at any time during your reservation. You just go straight to the villa from the airport.

If we can get an Early Arrival or Late Check-Out, is there a charge?

If your request requires a change to your electronic access code, then there will most likely be a charge for making the change. Here’s why:

Your access code for the front door of the villa is time and date specific to your stay with us. This means that your access code will not allow you to get in early, and it deactivates fairly shortly after 10:00 AM on your day of departure.

Using the example of a Late Check-Out, if you will be away from the villa on the day of your departure, and returning later, your door access code will have expired, and you will not be able to get into the villa. This could be highly problematic, especially on the day of your departure.

If you expect to be at the villa all day on the day of your departure, and someone can remain in the villa to let you in, you won’t need a new door lock access code. You will just have the inconvenience of whoever remains in the villa having to let you or other members of your party in when necessary. For many of our guests who request a late departure time, this works just fine… they don’t intend on going anywhere the day of their departure, and don’t need a new code.

But for those guests who do, a new code will be required, and the charge for producing and providing the new code, and rescheduling the cleaners and other matters, is $60.00

Likewise, if a new code must be generated to fascinate an early arrival, a $60 charge will be added to the reservation.

We try to accommodate all Early Arrival and Late Check-Out requests if we can, and to do so at no extra charge if possible.  Many vacation rental operators in the area see such requests as a revenue opportunity and sell this service only as an expensive upgrade. We prefer to treat our guests like we would like to be treated, and not require them to pay for something we can provide them at close to no cost to ourselves. Unfortunately, as explained above, this is not always possible. Your understanding and cooperation with these policies is appreciated.
